I have been posting poetry on Poem Online since January. Although I knew a little about poetry writing when I started, I have learned so much here both from reading the works of others and from the critique process. It is so much more helpful to get honest critques of your work and suggestions on how you might improve than to simply post a poem and say "here it is world, take it or leave it". If you're really interested in growing as poet, Poem Online may be just the place for you. The only thing I would suggest for those of you who do plan to join us on our poetry forum, is that you carefully read and follow the rules for posting. We all have a tendency to want to get our work out there for the whole world to behold, but reading the rules first will be very helpful to you (and help you fit in to our little "community"). To those of us who post on the forum, the critiquing process is nearly as important as the writing itself. Not only does it provide feedback for our peers, it actually helps the one critiquing to become a better poet too. I hope you'll join us.
